British Couple Uses Genetic Screening for NF-Free Baby

A British couple has used a procedure called PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis) to make sure their child will not inherit his dad’s NF1 status. Doctors screened embryos in a laboratory and chose only those without the NF gene marker to plant during in vitro fertilization.

NF Patient Has Remote Controlled Brain Surgery

Using a remote controlled robot arm called NeuroArm, doctors removed a complex brain tumor from 21-year-old Paige Nickason. This procedure is thought to be the first of its kind.
